Welcome to Year 2!
Class Teacher – Miss K Ehlen
Learning Support Assistant – Mrs W Parry
Welcome to our class page! Here you will find out about the exciting learning that takes place in our class, what we have been up to and useful information for learning at home.
In English, we are looking at a wide range of Poetry; from Silly Poems, to Patterns on a Page and then digging deep and Really Looking at Poetry! We are learning these poem’s off by heart using our Talk for Writing actions…ask any of us and we can show you!
We have also written instructions on how to make porridge and followed them – becoming little MasterChefs!
We work very hard on counting, multiplying and dividing in 2s, 5s and 10s in Year 2. This has helped us now become Whizz Kids at counting in money, time and calculating fractions! Have a look at us mathematicians…
We are also working on our estimation and inverse skills. We find cubes extremely helpful for our partner work, have a look…
We love working in mixed groups to solve problems. Here we are, hard at work…
This term we are thinking about families and God’s family in particular. We will also be finding out about Judaism and the Jewish people.
We have been working on our presentation, computer art and internet skills in the Media Zone…
This Summer term, we are going to be focusing on using and applying these skills.
This term, we will have PE on Wednesdays. Please make sure children have their kit in every week to ensure they get the most out of their lessons.
Guided reading is very important to us. All pupils will be listened to at least twice a week. However, we would love if you could also read with your child at home and leave a comment for us to check the following day. We would ask you read no more than a few pages each time, in order for your child to fully understand the book and ask a few questions on the pages they have read. Thank you!
Homework will be sent out on a Monday this term and should be returned on the Friday, if not beforehand. Your co-operation is very much appreciated.
If you wish to speak to Miss Ehlen regarding any questions or concerns, please feel free to make an appointment with the school office or wait after school once all the children have been dismissed.
