Information for Parents/Carers
Your child will be given homework which will enhance the curriculum that they are following in school and will help to improve their learning. We greatly appreciate parental support and encourage parents to become involved in their children’s learning. Research has shown that support from home significantly improves a child’s achievement in school.
Spellings and Times Tables will be given on a Monday to be completed by Friday.
MyMaths will be given on a Monday to be completed by Wednesday
English, Spelling Grammar and Punctuation will be given on a Wednesday to be completed by Friday.
Comprehension will be given on a Wednesday to complete by Friday on a fortnightly basis.
To help your child develop a love of reading, all children are given daily opportunities to read either during Guided Reading, Independent Reading or Reading for Pleasure sessions. Your child is encouraged to bring books of their own choice or choose a book from our class library as well as bring their school reading book to school every day. All children will read with the class teacher at least twice a week either individually or as a group in a guided session.
Bug Club – your child is able to read a variety of books online. Individual and Guided Reading books are allocated to your child’s library. Please encourage your child to read these books at home and discuss and answer both the texts and the comprehension ‘Bug’ questions with them.
The 2014 curriculum for Mathematics states that children are expected to know ALL times table facts up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4. Times tables will, therefore, make up the majority of the mathematics homework each week.
Your child is expected to use the times table document with which they have been provided to learn a times table.
Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school every day. PE is on Wednesday in the Summer term.
