As a school we teach phonics through the Read Write Inc scheme of work. Phonics is taught daily. All children are assessed each half term and taught phonics linked to their current ability.
For more information about RWI (Read Write Inc) and how to support your child at home please see https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/reading/read-write-inc-phonics-guide-for-parents/
Reading is very important to us. We believe that all children should be encouraged to develop a love of reading. In Year Two, all pupils will be listened to at least twice a week in school with Miss Ehlen and Mrs Parry.
They will also read a text linked to their phonetic ability each day during Read Write Inc.
However, reading with your home is just as important. We ask that you try and read at home with your child each night and leave a comment for us to check the following day. We would ask you read no more than a few pages each time, in order for your child to fully understand the book and ask a few questions on the pages they have read.
Don’t forget to access BugClub at home.
