Autumn 1, 2019 The Atlantic Slave Trade and it’s link to local history through the port of Liverpool 

We will be exploring the Migration of slaves from South to North America. The slave triangle between Africa, Britain and The United States of America. Transportation of slave including The Atlantic Passage,  life conditions of a slave and the abolition of slavery. We will hopefully visit the Slavery Museum in Liverpool.

Spring 1, 2020 Ancient Greeks 

In the second half of this term we will be studying the Ancient Greeks and how they have influenced us today. We will identify that many Greek words have English origins and investigate the similarities and differences between the Greek alphabet and our alphabet today. We will compare ancient Greek schools with schools today and find out about Greek architecture and how it has influences our buildings today. We will discover how ancient Greek scholars have contributed to our knowledge and understanding of the world and evaluate the contributions of the ancient Greeks to life today, including the Olympic games, both ancient and modern. We will hopefully visit the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

Summer 2, 2020 – The Maya Civilisation

During Summer the children will find out about where and when the remains of the Mayan civilisation was discovered and how the society developed over time. They will study the city states and how society was organised. The children will research religion and beliefs, everyday life, calendars and writings and finally the decline of the civilisation.
