RE Come and See

Autumn Term

We will be exploring the topic ‘The family of God in Scripture’ within the theme of ‘Family’ in the ‘Domestic Church’.

 The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s home, and go to a land that I am going to show to you. I will give you many descendants and they will become a great nation.”

Genesis 12: 1-2

We will explore ‘Confirmation: a call to witness’ within the theme of ‘Belonging’ within Baptism/Confirmation.

As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw … the spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my son, the beloved, with you I am well pleased’

Mark 1: 10-11

Our last topic of the term is ‘God’s gift of love & friendship in Jesus’ within the theme of Loving within Advent/Christmas. 

God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him’

1 John 4:9

 

Spring Term 

Our first topic this term is Life in the local Christian community: ministries in the parish’ within the theme Community within Local Church.

We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions …we are many, we are one body in union with Christ …we are use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us

Romans 12:4-6

Our second topic in Spring Term is ‘Living in communion’ within the theme Relating within Eucharist. 

For I received from the Lord what I also handed onto you … For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes

1 Cor. 11: 23-26

Finally, in Spring our last topic is ‘The family of God in Scripture’ death and resurrection’ within the theme Giving within Lent/Easter.

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbours’ eye, but you do not notice the log in your own?

Summer Term

Our topics this term are: ‘To hear & live the Easter message’ within the theme Serving within Pentecost.

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place…  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

Acts 2:1-4

Secondly, ‘Admitting wrong, being reconciled with God and one another’ within the theme Inter Relating within Reconciliation.

So when you are offering your gift at the altar if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you leave your gift before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister and then come and offer your gift.

Matthew 5: 23-24

Lastly for the year, ‘Different saints show people what God is like’ within the theme World within Universal Church.

We have only one body, but we are made up of many parts, and all these parts have different functions. In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in union with Christ and we are all joined to one another as different parts of one body.
