Phonics
Use the links below to practice letter formation with your child at home, ask them to write the letters down. Ask your child to say the sounds as you point to the screen. At the moment we are currently up to the Set 1 sounds so do not stress that your child does not recognize the Set 2/3 page. It is just good practice to let them see the other sounds and hear you say them to them.

Writing
I know it may seem like what your child can write down is limited but you would be surprised! Ask them to have a go at…
- Writing their full name
- Writing a card for me!
- Write a list… shopping, family members, toys they would like ect
- Write repetitive sentences for example looking out the window…. I can see a dog. I can see a car. I can a man. I can see a light. I can see the grass etc.
- Write a label for something they have made or built.
- Write short notes and leave them around for people to read.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
At St. Charles’ the Reception class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). This curriculum is based upon four themes and principles.
Unique Child – Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
Enabling Environments – Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.
Learning and Development – Children develop and learn in different ways. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
