Miss Edwards – Nursery Class Teacher

Our PE day is Monday. Homework will be given out every Friday, to be returned by the following Friday. Homework will be activities/games to do as a family at home. Please show us how you have got on each week by sending a picture on our class dojo.
Phonics
In Nursery we explore phase 1 phonics These are split into 7 different aspects:
Aspect 1 – Environmental Sounds
Aspect 2 – Instrumental Sounds
Aspect 3 – Body Percussion
Aspect 4 – Rhythm and Rhyme
Aspect 5 – Alliteration
Aspect 6 – Voice Sounds
Aspect 7 – Oral Blending and Segmenting
Once children are secure in phase 1, they will move onto phase 2 and begin the Read, Write, Inc phonics program.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
At St. Charles’ the Nursery class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). This curriculum is based upon four themes and principles.
Unique Child – Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
Enabling Environments – Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.
Learning and Development – Children develop and learn in different ways. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
